Ms. Tanenbaum is a public health professional with extensive administrative experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation, as well as direct clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of children with speech and language disorders. As SIDS & OID Program Coordinator, Ms. Tanenbaum is responsible for Georgia's SIDS & OID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome/Other Infant Death) Counseling and Information Program and provides leadership to the DHR SIDS Work Group. She maintains state guidelines for public health nurses who support families experiencing infant death. Additionally, Ms. Tanenbaum assures availability of training to public health staff regarding infant death and supporting families in grief. She provides technical assistance to health districts regarding national and community resources for supporting bereaved families. With the assistance of the Work Group, assures the provision of education to the professional and general public (especially pregnant women and families with a newborn) on reducing the risk of SIDS through prenatal care, prenatal maternal smoking cessation and smoke-free environment, breast-feeding, and sleep positioning. Professional affiliations and certifications include: Associate Public manager Certificate, State of Georgia Certified Public Manager Program (July 1992); Association of SIDS and Infant Mortality Programs, member. Presented Georgia's program to reduce the risk for SIDS at the Fourth International SIDS Conference in June 1996 and 1997 SIDS Alliance Conference in Dallas.
