The government must promise to look at all possible solutions to this crisis-including the use of national savings stashed away in offshore banks or National Social Security Fund to get us a quick solution. There is a proposal that if NSSF invested three quarters of its accumulated funds, we would acquire additional 250MW for $300million and supply power at three quarters the current tariff and still leave the workers savings fully protected. There is another proposal by Mr. Onegi Obel of levying a very small charge on consumables such as oil and similarly investing funds through amortisation in partnership with a strategic investor to give us two power dams in record time. World Bank loans are not the only options available to us.
