Kaiser Permanente in Salem has hired child psychiatrist Kiku "Emilei" Kim, internist Howard Baylies, obstetrician-gynecologist Ralph Lewis, pediatrician Lisa Sullinales and dentist Ryan Collins. Kim, Baylies and Lewis are at the Skyline office, and Sullinales and Collins are at the north Lancaster office.

'Belly size an indicator of heart disease'

After adjusting for a number of social and lifestyle factors such as age, sex, education, BMI, smoking, alcohol and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) in women, they found that men in the top 25 percent of SAD girth measurement had a 42 percent higher risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) than those in the bottom 25 percent of SAD girth measurement.

He still needs a surgical procedure. It's considered nothing major, but it will keep him a little longer in the hospital, and he may need to be intubated again. A few other patients were a bit further along, even if not quite ready for a full homecoming. Malina Eryn Bovshow, born at Kaiser Permanente on Oct. 14, was being bundled up for transport to the San Francisco Kaiser hospital. She had developed an infection soon after she was born, and came here rather than home for probable abdominal surgery.

Kaiser Optical Systems Develops Advanced Pulse Compression

Kaiser Optical Systems, Inc. has developed its volume phase holographic (VPH�) transmission gratings to support the ultrafast laser community. VPH gratings have very high diffraction efficiency and are ideal for use as the critical dispersion elements that allow laser pulses to be compressed into the femtosecond regime. A VPH transmission grating exhibits very low loss and low scatter. Each VPH grating is encapsulated between two glass substrates with anti-reflection coatings applied to the external surfaces. This results in a robust physical package that will withstand typical handling and can be cleaned with the same techniques used on high quality lenses.

Rx plan would monitor narcotics

One of the first states to do drug monitoring, California since the 1930s has required anyone who disperses narcotics to patients to submit monthly paper records to the Department of Justice. The DOJ uses the data to check for anomalies and investigate cases when needed. Doctors also can request data on patients.

Bus route to link KU campuses
