DES MOINES, Iowa, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Protocol Driven Healthcare Inc. (PDHI) today announced that ConXus Profile Pediatric has been deployed by the Iowa Modeling Wellness for Youth Project, piloting in selected Iowa schools. The project is looking to create a long-term positive change in nutrition and activity habits to reduce the incidence of obesity and to mitigate the associated health risks. Second, third, and fourth graders from five Iowa schools have been selected to participate in the project. The students will take the online health assessment in January to provide baseline data and a personal wellness profile. At the beginning of the second semester, each child will be presented with health and wellness information and activities within their daily school subjects. Throughout the semester and during the summer parents will receive information and suggestions for them to model and support healthy behaviors with their child at home. The students will take the health assessment again at the end of the project to measure individual and group progress. "The health risk assessment creates an awareness of an individual's current health behaviors and health risk factors," says Kerry Juhl (Executive Director, Wellness Council of Iowa). "The aggregate data in this project will be used to determine which behaviors are positive and where we can improve. The project will provide tools and resources for teachers to positively influence health in their classrooms by integrating health messages in the curriculum they currently teach." ConXus Profile Pediatric is a data-driven health risk assessment targeted at the 6 to 18 age group. Conditional branching logic presents the appropriate question set based on age and gender. On completion of the questionnaire, each participant receives a personal wellness profile detailing their health risks and lifestyle behaviors, together with recommendations for health improvement. PDHI is providing the application technology to support and deliver the health risk assessment, aggregate reporting, and administration for the Modeling Wellness for Youth Project. Funding for the project has been provided by the Wellmark Foundation. Project partners are the Wellness Council of Iowa, Iowa Department of Public Health, Iowa Association of School Boards, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, Iowa Chronic Care Consortium, and Hy-Vee, Inc. The project is being managed by the Wellness Council of Iowa. About Protocol Driven Healthcare, Inc Protocol Driven Healthcare, Inc.
