Barb Himes and David, her husband, reside in Indianapolis, Indiana with their four living children, Carrie, David, Nick and Katie. Their two month old son, Jake, died of SIDS on Christmas Eve 1981. Barb is the interim Executive Director of the SIDS Center of Indiana and Program Manager of the Indiana Perinatal Network/Indiana State Department of Health SIDS Program. Some of her efforts include sitting on the Marion County Child Fatality Review Team (CFR), and Fetal Infant Mortality Review Team (FIMR) and conducting training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy for all new recruits.

Barb is the co-executive producer of the training video and curriculum, "Finding Answers with Compassion". Forty-six states and six foreign countries have purchased this training module. It has also been translated into French.

Barb is passionate about appropriate treatment of families experiencing the loss of a baby. She describes her work as truly a "labor of love". Barb is excited and honored to be the team leader for the National SIDS and Infant Death Program Support Center Training and Education Team. She feels privileged to be associated with a highly sensitive and dedicated group of professionals.
