Janice S. Vaugh, Ph.D. received her BA in Psychology from Talladega College, Talladega, AL; the MSW from Atlanta University, Atlanta, GA: and the MPH and PH.D. degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA. She served as Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Associate Dean and Director of the Doctoral Program in Social Work at the Atlanta University School of Social Work from 1971-1987. She was appointed as Deputy Division Director for the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Family and Children Services, Atlanta, GA. In this position she managed social service and income maintenance programs; led the establishment of community based collaborative programs for children whose mothers were addicted to alcohol and cocaine. She served as Director of the MSW program at Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, GA and is presently Professor and Director of the Master of Public Health Program at the Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA. She was appointed as the Chair of the Fulton County Board of Health and Wellness and the Community Service Board for Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse in 1996. Dr. Vaughn is the wife of Edward Vaugh, III, the mother of four daughters and the grandmother of eight and one half.
