Mississippi has reason for added concern because the uninsured rate for African-Americans is 21 percent compared to 13 percent for whites. Our state has more African-American citizens as a percentage of population than any other state. About 33 percent of Hispanics, a fast-increasing population sector in some parts of Mississippi, don't have coverage.
