They're well-suited to the variety show caper," an entertainment beat reporter tells Shukan Shincho. "Japan as a strong tradition of gay performers like Akihiro Miwa, Peter, Osugi and Piko. And these guys don't get caught up in scandals, so the networks like them. With big stars like Ayumi Hamasaki and Kumi Koda getting caught in the glossies while hanging out in (the Tokyo gay quarter of Shinjuku) Ni-Chome, this has created an even more favorable impression of gays, too.
